CAROLINE FRIAS

Caroline Frias is a third year Costume Design MFA candidate at University of Idaho. She is originally from Miami, Florida and received her BFA in Florida International University. She is an artist of many forms, but photography is a new skill she is willing to develop. Come see her world through her lenses in some selected photos of the following projects.

portrait / Autumn Smiles

I am always fascinated by the color of leaves in autumn. Maybe it is because I grew up in a place where there is constant sunshine and the leaves do not change. I wanted to take advantage of the natural light outside for these photos, so I was ecstatic that the background of my photos could be these stunning trees. The model, my boyfriend, always has a hard time taking photos. He tends to not smile, is awkward around the camera, and is not confident in himself. I wanted to make him feel comfortable and not be scared of taking photos. Not only do we have nice photos now, but cherished memories to go along with them.

independent / The Little Things

The goal in these photos were to find beauty in the mundane, daily life. To find beauty in the harsh reality by zooming into their lives. I am also fascinated by hands because they are so expressive and each one tells a story. I was interested in working with the macro settings of my camera and playing around with angles, light, and composition to make normally mundane subjects interesting.

landscape /  Mood Swings

These photos were taken in different locations with such different moods. Each location brought up a different emotion to me: from awe to eerie to reminiscing. These locations ranged from the highways of SE Washington to Lewiston, Idaho.
