Natalie N. Locke

Natalie Newman Locke has a long and varied career as an NYC based actress, singer, and dancer. Currently she is Director of Performing Arts at the Montrose School in Medfield, MA, and an adjunct professor of Acting at Dean College in Franklin, MA.

She has dabbled in amateur photography since undergrad, and has a renewed and expanding interest in the form fostered through class at the University of Idaho where she is a MFA Theatre candidate in the distance program

She loves spending time with -- and taking photographs of -- her family, especially her children (who are empirically adorable and typically agreeable).

I’ve always been drawn to National Geographic - style, documentary portraiture.  And, given that the only people in my household (where we are staying in a Covid-free bubble) who are willing to be my subjects are my 2.5 year old and 6 month old children, the only real option is shooting “in the wild.” Ha. Here are a few REAL moments captured of these captivating, small human subjects.

I wanted to take a closer look at forced perspective-- or at least a clear & interesting & differentperspective.I chose to use my camera to find new angles thatwould make familiar things seem less familiar.Added challenges came from only having the time toshoot during bright daylight, and from not havinglenses that would allow me to get as close as Iwanted to without sacrificing other details.Although I took quite a few photos of a variety ofsubjects, I wanted my end-product to be a cohesiveseries. This small sampling of photos are of real and fauxnature: flowers, trees, plants, etc.
